User Guide

PlethoMove transfers files directly between nearby iPhone and Mac devices using Apple’s MultipeerConnectivity framework.

Setup & Connection

  1. Install PlethoMove on both your iPhone (iOS) and MacBook (macOS), then open the app on both devices.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices.
  3. Advertising and browsing start automatically when both apps are open.
  4. Tap the blue "Connect" button. When it turns green, the devices are connected.

Select & Send Files

  1. On iPhone, tap "Pick from Recents (Photos & Videos)" and select the files to send.
  2. Select files just like in the Photos app (including swipe selection). A banner shows estimated export and transfer time to help you plan. If you exceed available storage, a red "Maximum allowable selection reached" message will appear to prevent failed transfers.
  3. Tap the blue "Add" button to begin.
  4. On MacBook, click "Accept" when prompted.
  5. Transfer begins immediately. A progress bar appears on both devices, with remaining time shown on iPhone. When it reaches 100% and disappears, the transfer is complete.

Access & Move Files

  1. On MacBook, click the blue "Files Transferred Here" button to open your transferred files.

    Manual access:
Finder → Go → hold OptionLibraryContainersPlethoMoveDataDocuments

    Terminal:
    cd ~/Library/Containers/dev.neuras.plethomove/Data/Documents

    Full path:
    /Users/(your_user_name)/Library/Containers/dev.neuras.plethomove/Data/Documents

Important: Move your files out of this folder. The "Clean Up Temporary Files" function will delete everything here.
  2. Move files to your desired folder or external USB drive.

    Example:
Create a folder such as Trip_LakeTahoe on your desktop. Open "Files Transferred Here", then use Edit → Select All.

Drag all files into your new folder. This safely moves them out of the PlethoMove sandbox. You can then back them up or copy them elsewhere.
  3. After confirming your files are safely stored (e.g., in Trip_LakeTahoe), it is then safe to delete the originals from your iPhone Photos app to free up space.

Notes

No login or account is required. All transfers stay on your local network—nothing is uploaded to any server.

Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network with Bluetooth enabled.

Tips & Troubleshooting

* Power saving: Disable auto-lock to avoid interruptions during long transfers.

iPhone: Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never

MacBook: System Settings → Battery → Options → Enable “Prevent automatic sleeping” and set “Put hard disk to sleep” to Never

* Transfers may be interrupted if you leave the PlethoMove app -

for example, when answering calls or switching to apps like WhatsApp or LINE.

* If the app becomes unresponsive, restart your iPhone.

If the issue continues, uninstall and reinstall the app.
